This page describes how to delete and undelete pages, something that can only be don by administrators.

[edit] Procedure

  • To delete a page, click the delete tab on the page that is to be deleted. This will bring up a confirmation page. Make sure you include an explanation of the deletion in the box provided. Any links that point to the deleted page should be removed or corrected—whichever is the most appropriate action. If they are not, they will become red links to an uncreated page. All deleted pages are saved in an archive and accessible by administrators at Special:Log/delete.
  • Pages can be undeleted for as long as they are in the deletion archive. If a page has not been recreated since it was deleted, there will be a tab that will read "Undelete # edits" where # is the number of prior edits of the deleted page. This will bring up a confirmation page that lets you restore the entire page or only selected revisions. To undelete a page, click the restore button; this will restore all deleted revisions by default. Undeletion is also recorded in the deletion log. If the deleted page has already been created anew, an administrator may restore a previous version by visiting the page history and clicking on the "View or restore # deleted edits?" link provided above the page history. However, note that restoring the deleted page will replace the new one.

Notes

  • Delete revisions: To only delete a few revisions from the history, delete the article normally, then begin the undeletion procedure. Go to the deletion log and start the undeletion process. Before clicking the "Restore" button, check the revisions you want to restore—all others will remain deleted. To delete one version of an image, click the (del) link beside that version under the "File history" heading. The most recent version cannot be deleted without deleting all previous versions.
